Description
"Hut on Lake in Greece"
A fishing retreat hut on the beautiful lake of Messolonghi in Greece. The body of water is the prime economic source of this little town, as many inhabitants live from fishing and fish roe trading. The sea lake is also one of the best places to visit when in Messolonghi!
Missolonghi or Messolonghi (Greek: Μεσολόγγι) is a small municipality in western Greece. Missolonghi claim to fame is that it was the site of a dramatic siege during the Greek War of Independence (1821 - 32) and of the death of the famous poet Lord Byron (1824). War of Greek Independence started in March of 1821 and ended in July 1832, where Greeks within the Ottoman Empire rebelled; this was a twelve year struggle which resulted in the establishment of an independent kingdom of Greece. The Garden of Heroes, a beautiful park in the center of the town, is dedicated to this tragic event in history.
