Description
Gothic architecture is a type of architectural style that was popular in Europe from the late 12th to the 16th century. It occurred during the late Middles Ages and continued into the 17th and 18th centuries in some areas. Gothic architecture started from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture. The design element of Gothic architecture is a pointed or ogival arch. The pointed arch led to the development of the pointed rib vault and flying buttresses along with elaborate tracery and stained glass windows.
