Description
"Tappan Zee" by James Venuti
Location: Sleepy Hollow, New York
Formerly half a mile off shore, now just off shore of Kingsland Point Park, Sleepy Hollow, NY, Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse is visible from the north side of the Tappan Zee Bridge. It is unique among Hudson River lighthouses because it is the only “sparkplug” style lighthouse to contain family quarters. Sleepy Hollow’s brick-lined walls held five floors of living space.
In the 1940s, the lighthouse interior was updated with modern sanitation and electricity. The light was automated in 1955, and with the completion of the Tappan Zee Bridge just to the south in 1957, the keeper became unnecessary. Today, the lighthouse is managed by the Village of Sleepy Hollow Recreation & Parks Department and is considered part of the Kingsland Point Park.
All our prints are shipped in high quality aluminum frames. Our EFX watermark will not be printed on the final artwork. All of our products are printed on archival quality UV light resistant polyester.
