"Harley-Davidson XR750 UNS" by Daniel Peirce
The Harley-Davidson XR750 is a racing motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson starting in 1970. Its design was mainly for dirt track and road racing. The XR750 design came about in response to a 1969 rule change by the AMA Grand National Championship allowing Japanese and British motorcycles to outperform the previously dominant Harley-Davidson KR race bike. After the tweak in design and performance, the XR750 went on to win the most races in the history of American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) racing. What probably brought the greatest attetion to this motorcycle was Robert Craig Knievel's (aka Evel Knievel) daring motorcycle fly-over performances. On January 7th and 8th, 1971, Evel Knievel set the record by selling over 100,000 tickets to back-to-back performances at the Houston Astrodome by jumping cars. Then on February 28th, he set a new world record by jumping 19 cars with his Harley-Davidson XR-750 at the Ontario Motor Speedway in Ontario, California.
Note the "UNS" is not part of the name of Harley-Davidson's motorcycle, but these initials were added by Daniel Peirce in dedicating particular works of art to the Up-N-Smoke BBQ restauarant and Motorsports bar in Keller, TX. All our giclees are shipped in high quality aluminum frames.
